Abdoulaye Armin Kane

Multidisciplinary artist

Born in Dakar in 1965, graduated from the École nationale des Beaux-Arts de Dakar in 1992. His practice spans painting, sculpture, textile, patchwork, installation, video and digital work. Since 2005 he has led artistic expression workshops at the Moussa Diop psychiatric clinic of Fann hospital.

Approach and materials

He explores human behaviour in the face of change: identity, memory, fragmentation, reconstruction. Faded wax prints, worn bazin and fabric scraps are cut, sewn and reassembled: patching becomes a way of thinking repair and unity out of dispersion.
