Dieynabou S. Baldé

Born in Dakar and known as Lewrou, she graduated from the École nationale des Beaux-Arts de Dakar in 2006. She is based at the Village des Arts in Dakar, on the road to Yoff.

Approach and materials

Her work explores the territories of dreams and the unconscious, where emotions, memories and aspirations meet. She plays with shapes and colours to capture the contrasts of daily life: light and darkness, joy and melancholy, chaos and harmony.
