Makhone Issa Diop

Bronze sculptor

Born in 1987 in Diourbel, he lives and works in Dakar, at the Village des Arts. Trained from a young age by his father, the artist Issa K. Diop, he carries on a family legacy built over sixty years of artistic practice.

Approach and materials

Known for his attention to detail and technical rigour, he turns each bronze into an exploration of form and movement. His series draw on the Maasai of Kenya, traditional African games (La Brouette, Saute-Mouton) and Senegalese wrestlers.
